About

What is this

bsnews.fyi is a personal tech briefing site. The front page looks like a credible digital publication because the goal is fast scanning: what happened, why it might matter, link to the source.

How it works

Every article is a Markdown file in a Git repository. There is no CMS, no dashboard, no browser-based editor. You write, you commit, you push, and the site rebuilds. The publishing workflow is intentionally terminal-first because the alternative is a Notion integration that asks you to log in with Google and then crashes.

The site is built with Astro, rendered statically, and deployed through GitHub Pages. There is no server, no database, and no JavaScript framework hydrating a div in the name of interactivity.

Origin labels:SlopBiological Slop

Not everything here was written by a person. Some of it was generated by an AI, lightly edited, and published because it was funny enough. We think you deserve to know which is which.

Every article carries an origin badge:

  • Biological SlopBiological Slop means a real person wrote the piece. Typos are authentic. Opinions are their own. The writing may be worse than the machine's, but at least a human chose every word with malice aforethought.
  • SlopSlop means an AI generated the piece. A human may have prompted it, trimmed it, or giggled at the output, but the prose is fundamentally machine-produced. The spiritual equivalent of a microwave dinner with the label still attached.

You can browse the full split at any time:

Why label it

Because the alternative is pretending, and pretending is how you end up with a media ecosystem where nobody trusts anything and every byline might as well say "Content Vertical." We would rather be honest about the slop than dignified about the lie.

Also, the label is funny. A serious newsroom badge that saysSlop next to one that says Biological Slopis the exact kind of tension this site runs on.

Editorial standards

There are none. We reserve the right to publish anything that makes us laugh, regardless of origin, provided it survives a quick sanity check and fits the editorial premise: tech industry behavior so recognizable it hurts.

If you are reading this looking for a correction policy, the correction is that you should not have taken any of this seriously in the first place.

Colophon

Built with Astro 6, TypeScript, and Tailwind CSS. Deployed on GitHub Pages. Typeset in whatever your browser thinks is a good serif. No cookies, no analytics, no tracking. The only data we collect is the git log, and that is public.
